INTRODUCTION
This
revised directory of postsecondary options in Georgia has been compiled in an
effort to help students with disabilities who are preparing for graduation from
high school and are seeking further training or education. This directory
presents information in the following areas:
• Vocational
Technical Colleges
• Vocational
Training
• Two-Year
and Four-Year Colleges and Universities in Georgia
• Apprenticeship
Programs
• Specialized
College Programs Outside Georgia
• Resources
for College
In
addition, there is an article about “Tips for Students to Find Success in
Higher Education” and another dealing with Section 504
of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Both offer practical suggestions for the
high school graduate with disabilities.
The
Metro East and Metro West centers of the Georgia Learning Resources System (GLRS)
are proud to present this directory as a service to the students, parents, and
teachers who are dealing with transition issues. However, the inclusion of any
agency or organization in this directory does not
constitute our agencies’ endorsement of its program, and at the same time,
our agency may have unintentionally omitted other fine programs. If you are
aware of missing agencies, we ask that you notify our office(s) so that these
resources can be included in later versions. You may call Metro East at
404-325-3011, ext. 226, or Metro West at 404-352-2697, ext. 247.
We
would like to acknowledge Mrs. Liz Primm for her work in compiling the
information included in this publication. Thanks also go to Ms. Mary Jane
Burchette for typing and co-editing this directory.
