What if I disagree?

If you do not agree with the evaluation results, eligibility, or your child’s special education program, it is important that you share your concerns. Talk to your child’s special education teacher or contact the special education director’s office.

What is mediation?

If you and the school district do not agree on the IEP, you can appeal the decision of the IEP team. You may ask for free mediation with a neutral third person who will try to help resolve the dispute and reach agreement. Mediation is a useful way to settle disputes; however, mediation cannot be used to delay or deny the right to a due process hearing.
